Today we would like to feature the newest creations by Silas Seandel.  He makes one of a kind sculptured furniture that is absolutely to die for!  We would like to share with you a few of our favorites below!

Up first is the BF Round Dining Table.  This table base was created using cast bronze and has a round glass top that you can specify to any size you want!  His designs are also flexible so with this piece you can request that they make this a cocktail table, a dining table, an end table or a console table!  We are in love!

The Laura Kirar Collection

We are loving the stunningly original Laura Kirar Furniture Collection at Baker and we would like to share a few of our favorites from the collection.  First, take note of the fabulous Lola Chaise in the image above!  The angular lines of the piece are so unexpected and such a treat!

Next up is the very handsome Milpa Bedside Chest which can also double as an end table.  We are captivated by the geometric patterns within the wood veneer detail and how they visually make the drawers appear to be three-dimensional!  The metal X-base is also a nice tie-in to this geometric theme.

The Interior Design Magazine Best of the Year (BOY) Awards are one of the hottest tickets in town and this year, and I scored a ticket.  This honor is awarded to designers and manufacturers who are the best in their specific categories.  We would like to highlight some of the winners of 2014.

First up is Holly Hunt’s Gazelle Cocktail Table which won for the category of Residential Coffee and Cocktail Tables.  It has an absolute black granite top with cast bronze legs.  What a sexy silhouette!

The Roundhouse Bed by Atlas Industries won for the Beds category in furniture.  Made from solid hardwood in a variety of available finishes, this bed was designed for boutique hotels, but can be great in a residential setting as well!

Inspired by gourmet chocolates, this next winner in the category of Residential Side Tables is the Jean De Merry Module Side Tables.  These are fabricated in an ebony grain wood finish with antiqued bronze.  Such an interesting finish!  We love it!!  And tables like this are so versatile.  You can move them around into whatever configuration you want, and they also double as stools!  How perfect!!

It’s no secret that we love Cliff Young.  With their innovative designs and mixture of materials, their custom furniture offerings are truly works of art!

Case in point is this cocktail table.  The juxtaposition of a live edge piece of wood top and an acrylic base is a perfect pairing.  We not only love this unique combination of materials and the square geometric shape of the base as well!

My dear high school friend, Megan Karlen, sent me a note last week with an idea for this post.  She has a friend with a loft in SOHO filled with mid-century modern chairs and other vintage pieces that are tired and in need of repair.  The couple is at odds with what to do with these pieces.  To save or to toss?

There are so many treasures on this earth and many people don’t even realize what they have.  Vintage pieces just screaming out for attention, a much needed facelift or an antique that needs to come back to life in a new way!  We love the idea of updating vintage pieces of your own or ones that you have found for a bargain.  Not only does it give an eclectic feel to your home, but it repurposes something that otherwise might end up in a landfill.  The idea of reuse and repurpose is totally green and sustainable, and we completely and 100% approve!  We have curated a few of our favorite “regreened” furnishings to get you inspired!

The first up is a vintage bow-front dresser.  The existing piece had great bones and beautiful form.  With a fresh coat of paint in a bright orange hue, the owners decided to repurpose this piece as a server for their dining room.  It really is a statement piece!

When I looked at my current home, the living room had two of these beauties, vintage seventies!  Happily they left with the sellers!   While the form of the existing chair is great, we love how reupholstering the chair in a fresh new funky and modern fabric and restaining the wood, juxtapose the more traditional frame.  It looks fabulous!

Next up is this really old and tired bamboo chest.  It is complete with dull black and grey paint and pulls that are barely hanging on.  With a fresh coat of teal paint and sparkling new hardware, this chest of drawers looks like it was sourced from a posh showroom!  We love it!

We are wild about the bare bones of this next vintage piece but even more entranced with the transformation!  The entire piece has been sheathed in coats of a gorgeous grey and then finished with the most interesting silver pulls.  They are so decorative and really make the chest into something special!!

The last piece we want to share with you is such a fun transformation!!  The Empire style chair was old and tired with a dinged up frame and ripped upholstery.  Enter the new and improved version, covered in a more modern Ikat textile with a dark finish on the frame.  New casters on the legs (for ease of mobility), and the mix of old and new (funky patterned fabrics on the front and the original on the back!).  This chair would pack a punch in any room!!

We recently stumbled upon the creations from Bitangra, a company that is fabricating incredible furniture that are truly works of art!  We would like to share a few of our favorite picks with you.

This first is this incredible Jinga Dining Table, fabricated of golden brass and acrylic, this table was inspired by a well-known game with intersecting cubes.  We love this table!

The Rupture Center Table blends an Indian Green Marble Top with an aluminum tube base.  We love the random quality of the base and the intentioned voids created in the design.

The last table we would like to share with you is the Kanda Dining Table.  This stunning base is made from a mix of lacquered wood and glass, with an acrylic top banded in golden brass.  We love how this base gives a beautiful nod to nature and resembles the organic quality of tree branches.

At ICFF we were awed by the wonderful offerings from a new furniture manufacturer, enter Uhuru!  They offer stunning pieces featuring rich, beautiful slabs of wood.  The one that really caught our eyes at the show was the Split Base Table.  Absolutely gorgeous!  We love the live edge wood slab in combination with the blackened steel base.  To die for!!

Check out this detail shot below showing the bowtie shaped metal connections along the split of the wood.  This is such a special detail and truly accents the grain and character of the wood, making this table extra special!

We are in love with the gorgeous Summit Media Unit below.  This casepiece is also fabricated from wood slab and blackened steel.  Such a beautiful combination!  We love the natural shape of the reveal down the center!

Uhuru has many other unique pieces on their website, but our favorite has to be the Cyclone Lounger!  It is special for many reasons, the most important being that they used reclaimed wood from the Coney Island Boardwalk.  So cool!  Not to mention the laser cut powder coated steel base that resembles the supports under a wooden roller coaster.  Just a beautiful piece all around!
